Acrisure UK has appointed Lou Brown as Head of Risk Management to lead the development of its Acrisure Risk Management Services division.
Bringing more than a decade of experience across claims, risk engineering and strategic risk consultancy, including over four years at Marsh McLennan, Lou will establish a coordinated, UK-wide approach to risk management across broking, claims and advisory teams.
The new division marks a significant investment by Acrisure UK to build on a more proactive, advisory-led service model. Tailored to its client base, Acrisure Risk Management Services will focus on practical, operational risk areas including people and liability risk, property, motor, claims defensibility, and strategic risk, with a clear aim to reduce the total cost of risk and improve claims performance.
Lou Brown, Head of Risk Management at Acrisure UK, said: “I am delighted to have joined the team at such an exciting time for Acrisure. This is a rare opportunity to build something from the ground up. The ambition is to move away from transactional insurance and towards a more strategic, collaborative approach that delivers added value to clients. By combining claims insight with practical risk management, we can help clients not just insure risk but actively reduce it.
“Thanks to this new suite of services, the Acrisure team can identify, assess, and mitigate risks to protect organisational assets and reputation, as well as support informed decision-making. Organisations in turn can minimise potential losses, strengthen compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and achieve sustainable growth.”
Lou is supported by a growing team of dedicated specialists with a wealth of experience. The team will support regional delivery alongside partnerships with specialist providers to enhance the overall service offering.
Andy Simmonds has recently joined the team as Senior Health and Safety Consultant after previously holding roles at Redditch Borough Council, Howden Insurance Brokers Limited, Gallagher, and NatWest Mentor.
With more than 25 years’ experience in health and safety risk management, a significant part of Andy’s career has been within the insurance sector. Andy has worked closely with insurers, brokers, and clients to identify, assess, and mitigate risks, as well as reduce claims exposure by implementing robust health and safety controls. Andy has worked across a wide range of sectors, including construction, manufacturing, care, education, agriculture, motor, and housing, making him well-placed to understand sector-specific risks and regulatory requirements.
Sally Swann, Director of Corporate Development & Risk Management at Acrisure UK, said: “The appointment of Lou Brown to head up Acrisure Risk Management Services is an important part of our risk management growth strategy. The team will be providing a comprehensive suite of services to address strategic, operational, financial, and compliance-related challenges. The whole team brings a huge amount of experience to our business and we look forward to continuing to build Acrisure’s reputation as a trusted risk management partner.
“This is about creating a more integrated, forward-thinking proposition – one that not only supports our clients in managing risk more effectively but also strengthens our relationships with insurers and drives long-term, sustainable growth.”
