What's an excess and does one apply to this policy?
Claims under most sections of the policy are subject to an excess of £50. This means that you’ll be responsible for paying the first part of each claim. The excess will be deducted per person under each section where applicable.
Details of the excesses that apply can be found throughout the Summary of Policy Benefits on pages 3 – 5 of the Policy Wording.
What is and isn't covered under this insurance policy?
To find out what is and isn’t covered under this travel insurance policy, please see the policy documents linked below:
Who can be insured under the policy?
Cover can be selected for employee only, employee and spouse, employee and children and employee and family.
We consider a common-law partner as any person who’s not related to you and who has been living at the same address as you in a domestic relationship for at least six consecutive months, at the commencement of the policy.
Cover can be selected for dependent children (includes adopted, foster and stepchildren) up to the age of 25 as long as they are in full time education and reside at the same address as you.
How do I get a copy of my evidence of insurance certificate?
Acrisure will email your Evidence of Insurance Certificate to your company email address a few days after we’ve confirmed your cover selection to your employer.

What sports and leisure activities are covered by the policy?
The policy covers a range of sports and leisure activities, provided your involvement is recreational, amateur, and non-competitive only, including Winter Sports.
Please refer to page 22 to page 23 of the Policy Wording for a list of what sports and leisure activities are included and excluded.
Can children travel independently?
Yes, for a maximum of 30 days per trip.
Health & medical conditions
Am I covered for pre-existing medical conditions?
There’s no need to tell us about any pre-existing medical conditions.
All pre-existing conditions are covered unless an Insured Person is travelling against the advice of a Qualified Medical Practitioner or where a terminal complaint has been diagnosed or where the purpose of the Insured Journey is to receive medical treatment or advice.
Do I need to tell you about any changes in health once I have purchased the policy?
No. However, you must not travel against the advice of a Qualified Medical Practitioner or have a terminal diagnosis or treatment abroad. If you go against this, then no cover is in force.
Am I covered for pregnancy and childbirth?
The cover under this policy is provided for unforeseen events. Normal pregnancy and childbirth aren’t considered to be unforeseen events.
Cover is only provided for claims arising from complications of pregnancy as defined on page 15 of the Policy Wording.
Questions regarding COVID-19
Is COVID-19 covered by the policy?
This policy provides cover for:
Cancellation
- If you test positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of the departure date of your trip,
Additional Travel and/or Accommodation Costs
If, following departure, you need to stay longer at your destination due to testing positive for COVID-19:
- (i) reasonable additional accommodation costs incurred at the Insured Person’s destination
- (ii) reasonable additional travel costs incurred in returning
provided that before your trip commencing, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) hasn’t issued advice against all travel or all but essential travel to your intended destination(s), including any country or area where travelling.
Please note that apart from the cover listed above, there is no further cover provided COVID-19 and you’re advised to ensure that this policy meets your requirements.
Can I claim if the FCDO are advising against travel to my destination, but the provider hasn’t cancelled the trip?
You can’t claim under this policy for the cancellation or curtailment of your holiday if the FCDO, or similar, advise against “all” or “all but essential” travel to your destination, either prior to departure or during the duration of your trip.
The FCDO is advising against “all” or “all but essential” travel to my destination. I feel my trip is essential. Does this mean I'm covered?
Whilst we do understand that these situations where you may need to travel can be difficult, as standard, the policy won’t cover you at all if you’re travelling at such a time that the FCDO advise against “all” or “all but essential” travel to your destination.
Ultimately, the policy is intended to cover leisure trips only, but if you feel you need cover in exceptional circumstances, please contact us and we can refer your case to the insurer for consideration.
Am I covered if I catch Covid-19, or must self-isolate, before my trip even starts?
This policy offers a limited amount of cover under the section ‘Cancellation and Curtailment’ – see page 30 of the Policy Wording.
If you or anyone else insured tests positive or is required to isolate for COVID-19 up to 14 days before your insured trip, we’ll consider a claim for up to the amount insured.
Details of this cover can be found on page 31 of the Policy Wording.
