The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has appointed Acrisure UK as the provider of its Latent Defects Insurance (LDI) Scheme.

The scheme gives BIBA members access to specialist latent defects insurance and structural warranty solutions for residential and commercial developments across the UK. Delivered through Acrisure UK’s specialist construction team, the scheme supports a broad range of development types and structural risks.

BIBA members will have access to a panel of Insurers, helping them source appropriate structural warranty solutions for their clients across residential and commercial projects.

Acrisure UK’s construction specialists will also provide dedicated account management, providing a single point of contact throughout the placement process. The team will work with BIBA members to help navigate technical underwriting requirements and identify suitable solutions for individual developments.

Mike Hallam, BIBA Head of Technical Services, said: “LDI requires specialist knowledge and expertise, making access to the right market particularly important. We believe this scheme will be a valuable resource for members supporting commercial and private customers alike with their building development needs.”

Andrew Boyce, CEO, Acrisure UK Retail, said: “We are delighted that BIBA has appointed Acrisure UK as the provider of its Latent Defects Insurance Scheme and we look forward to supporting its broker membership through our new proposition.

“Structural warranties can be a complex area for brokers and developers, particularly as the requirements of different projects, lenders and insurers continue to evolve. Our aim through the BIBA scheme is to make it easier for brokers to access specialist expertise and a broad range of insurer capacity across residential and commercial developments.

“Our team will work closely with BIBA members from the initial enquiry through to project completion, providing responsive, specialist support throughout the process.”

The appointment reflects BIBA’s continued focus on providing members with access to specialist insurance solutions and expert support across a range of client risks.

Acrisure UK has appointed Lou Brown as Head of Risk Management to lead the development of its Acrisure Risk Management Services division.

Bringing more than a decade of experience across claims, risk engineering and strategic risk consultancy, including over four years at Marsh McLennan, Lou will establish a coordinated, UK-wide approach to risk management across broking, claims and advisory teams.

The new division marks a significant investment by Acrisure UK to build on a more proactive, advisory-led service model. Tailored to its client base, Acrisure Risk Management Services will focus on practical, operational risk areas including people and liability risk, property, motor, claims defensibility, and strategic risk, with a clear aim to reduce the total cost of risk and improve claims performance.

Lou Brown, Head of Risk Management at Acrisure UK, said: “I am delighted to have joined the team at such an exciting time for Acrisure. This is a rare opportunity to build something from the ground up. The ambition is to move away from transactional insurance and towards a more strategic, collaborative approach that delivers added value to clients. By combining claims insight with practical risk management, we can help clients not just insure risk but actively reduce it.

“Thanks to this new suite of services, the Acrisure team can identify, assess, and mitigate risks to protect organisational assets and reputation, as well as support informed decision-making. Organisations in turn can minimise potential losses, strengthen compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and achieve sustainable growth.”

Lou is supported by a growing team of dedicated specialists with a wealth of experience. The team will support regional delivery alongside partnerships with specialist providers to enhance the overall service offering.

Andy Simmonds has recently joined the team as Senior Health and Safety Consultant after previously holding roles at Redditch Borough Council, Howden Insurance Brokers Limited, Gallagher, and NatWest Mentor.

With more than 25 years’ experience in health and safety risk management, a significant part of Andy’s career has been within the insurance sector. Andy has worked closely with insurers, brokers, and clients to identify, assess, and mitigate risks, as well as reduce claims exposure by implementing robust health and safety controls. Andy has worked across a wide range of sectors, including construction, manufacturing, care, education, agriculture, motor, and housing, making him well-placed to understand sector-specific risks and regulatory requirements.

Sally Swann, Director of Corporate Development & Risk Management at Acrisure UK, said: “The appointment of Lou Brown to head up Acrisure Risk Management Services is an important part of our risk management growth strategy. The team will be providing a comprehensive suite of services to address strategic, operational, financial, and compliance-related challenges. The whole team brings a huge amount of experience to our business and we look forward to continuing to build Acrisure’s reputation as a trusted risk management partner.

“This is about creating a more integrated, forward-thinking proposition – one that not only supports our clients in managing risk more effectively but also strengthens our relationships with insurers and drives long-term, sustainable growth.”

Acrisure UK part of global fintech leader Acrisure, has raised more than £134,000 in the first few months of this year after announcing Macmillan Cancer Support as its 2026 UK Lead Charity.

More than 800 employees across Acrisure Re, Acrisure London Wholesale, and Acrisure UK Retail cast their votes to select a chosen charity for 2026, and many have already committed to take part in fundraising efforts for the cancer support organisation. This includes a series of activities – a staff sleepout, charity quiz nights, abseils, marathons, and bake-offs.

Acrisure UK hosted its sixth annual and highly anticipated football tournament at The Amex football stadium in Brighton, which featured a dedicated women’s match and 20 other teams comprised of our partners, clients and employees.

2025 was Acrisure UK’s most successful year of charitable fundraising, collecting more than £200,000 for charities in the UK, including Brain Research UK.

Acrisure UK offices will also participate in nationwide charity fundraising efforts, alongside their ongoing support for the regional and local causes close to their communities. Acrisure UK will also continue with its Nomination Fund, an initiative that enables employees to nominate additional charities to receive donations.

Tom Quy, Head of Charity and Managing Director at Acrisure London Wholesale, said: “Our 6th annual football tournament brought our UK businesses together to support Macmillan, along with the first ever Women’s match. At Acrisure, we care deeply about our customers and communities – we support our people, champion different perspectives, and show up to make a real difference. Our employees across the UK truly went the extra mile in 2025, raising record amounts for our charity partners, and we’re determined to go even further for Macmillan Cancer Support this year. Our Charity Committee has a range of exciting fundraising opportunities lined up over the coming months, and we couldn’t be prouder of what we have already achieved this year.”

Macmillan is dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by cancer by providing practical, emotional, and financial support whenever it is needed. Today, the number of people living with cancer in the UK is at a record high and continues to rise, with almost 3.5 million people affected.

Through specially trained nurses, advisers, professionals, and volunteer buddies, Macmillan provides free emotional support and trusted information every day, including via the Macmillan Support Line, through the Online Community and at Macmillan centres and healthcare sites across the UK. Macmillan Cancer Support continues to do whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care, support, and information the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are, whenever they might need it.

Victoria Floyd, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “We are delighted to have been selected by Acrisure as their lead charity partner in the UK. It means so much to us that their brilliant colleagues will be baking cakes, scoring goals and quizzing to raise vital funds for Macmillan. It is only with the generous support of partners like Acrisure that we can continue to do whatever it takes to support people with cancer and spark a revolution in cancer care for the future.”

Acrisure’s network of brokers across the UK is united by shared values and a commitment to combining deep industry expertise and bringing our global reach to local businesses. Acrisure’s London headquarters at 40 Leadenhall Street is home to Acrisure London Markets, UK Retail Broking, Reinsurance, London Wholesale, Corporate Advisory Services, and Flux Syndicate 1985.

Sutton Specialist Risks (SSR), part of Acrisure UK, has launched a new Contractors Commercial Combined product, marking a significant milestone following the creation of its dedicated Property & Casualty division late last year.

The new product has been developed in response to growing broker demand for a single, comprehensive solution for contractors operating across increasingly complex and specialist risk landscapes. It brings together Public and Products Liability, Employers’ Liability, Contractors All Risks, Commercial Combined Property, Business Interruption and Legal Expenses within one flexible policy, on broad delegated authority and large limits, underpinned by Lloyd’s of London.

The division is led by Tom Sparkes, who joined SSR in September with significant MGA experience spanning almost two decades. Sparkes was appointed to establish and grow the general Property & Casualty proposition.

Gary Uren, Managing Director at SSR, said: “Adding Tom and his new division to the SSR team strengthens our Property & Casualty expertise alongside the more specialist sectors that SSR is traditionally associated with. This move complements and expands our growing MGA capability, not just within SSR but across Acrisure UK generally where we are developing a strong collective of businesses within the MGA environment. I am excited for the opportunities the Contractors Commercial Combined product will bring and look forward to working with Tom and his team as we launch this first product and develop future projects to bring to market”.

Tom Sparkes, Head of Property & Casualty at SSR, said: “We are confident that this new product addresses a clear gap in the market – it’s about doing the fundamentals well: specialist underwriting, empowered decision-making and broker service that you can rely on. Our division is focused on more than just price, and we expect to introduce further products that reflect our view of how MGAs should operate – specialist-led, decisive and service-driven.

We have negotiated comprehensive built-in extensions, broad delegated authority and multiple coverage sections into one policy. Technology also enables us to transact multiple covers in a way that can scale. With the backing of Acrisure and access to its broad distribution network, we have the capability to grow without losing the agility and principles that matter most to brokers.”

The Contractors Commercial Combined policy is liability-led, with competitive primary limits and the ability to support larger programmes through excess layers. It spans a wide trade appetite—from civil engineering and groundworks to M&E, landscaping and higher-risk activities – while maintaining underwriting discipline.

It also accommodates higher-hazard exposures, including work at height and depth, rail and road works, and contractors operating in complex environments such as renewable energy sites.

The Contractors Commercial Combined product is available to trade now and is transacted via Acturis, ensuring seamless integration with broker workflows.
