SSR launches Contractors Commercial Combined product as new Property and Casualty division builds momentum under Acrisure UK

Sutton Specialist Risks (SSR), part of Acrisure UK, has launched a new Contractors Commercial Combined product, marking a significant milestone following the creation of its dedicated Property & Casualty division late last year.

The new product has been developed in response to growing broker demand for a single, comprehensive solution for contractors operating across increasingly complex and specialist risk landscapes. It brings together Public and Products Liability, Employers’ Liability, Contractors All Risks, Commercial Combined Property, Business Interruption and Legal Expenses within one flexible policy, on broad delegated authority and large limits, underpinned by Lloyd’s of London.

The division is led by Tom Sparkes, who joined SSR in September with significant MGA experience spanning almost two decades. Sparkes was appointed to establish and grow the general Property & Casualty proposition.

Gary Uren, Managing Director at SSR, said: “Adding Tom and his new division to the SSR team strengthens our Property & Casualty expertise alongside the more specialist sectors that SSR is traditionally associated with. This move complements and expands our growing MGA capability, not just within SSR but across Acrisure UK generally where we are developing a strong collective of businesses within the MGA environment. I am excited for the opportunities the Contractors Commercial Combined product will bring and look forward to working with Tom and his team as we launch this first product and develop future projects to bring to market”.

Tom Sparkes, Head of Property & Casualty at SSR, said: “We are confident that this new product addresses a clear gap in the market – it’s about doing the fundamentals well: specialist underwriting, empowered decision-making and broker service that you can rely on. Our division is focused on more than just price, and we expect to introduce further products that reflect our view of how MGAs should operate – specialist-led, decisive and service-driven.

We have negotiated comprehensive built-in extensions, broad delegated authority and multiple coverage sections into one policy. Technology also enables us to transact multiple covers in a way that can scale. With the backing of Acrisure and access to its broad distribution network, we have the capability to grow without losing the agility and principles that matter most to brokers.”

The Contractors Commercial Combined policy is liability-led, with competitive primary limits and the ability to support larger programmes through excess layers. It spans a wide trade appetite—from civil engineering and groundworks to M&E, landscaping and higher-risk activities – while maintaining underwriting discipline.

It also accommodates higher-hazard exposures, including work at height and depth, rail and road works, and contractors operating in complex environments such as renewable energy sites.

The Contractors Commercial Combined product is available to trade now and is transacted via Acturis, ensuring seamless integration with broker workflows.
